The Teatro La Fenice
has been the pride and joy of Venetian theatergoers for centuries now.
It was inaugurated in 1792 with the opera I Fuochi di Agrigento
(Agrigento's Fires) by Southern Italian composer Giovanni Paisiello.
La Fenice has undergone fires and renovations. A terrible arson happened in 1996. However, in 2003, the opera house opened again and La Fenice (the phoenix
) now flies higher than ever!
